Shifa Health Care Program

Program Overview
The Shifa Health Care Program is a program that provides medical care and medical treatment to the needy people, in collaboration with a number of establishments in the medical sector throughout the Kingdom. This program started four years ago and its activities stem from a deep conviction that keeping the individual healthy is a basic need rather that a luxury requirement.
Social development requires the effort of every member of the society; however this will have a negative impact whenever an individual fails to contribute to this effort because of sickness.
We strongly believe that Almighty God is the creator of both sickness and cure, and that it is our responsibility to seek to cure the sick and provide them with the necessary medical treatment. Our prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, has ranked good health the first of the three most basic possessions of life: Health; Personal Security; and Livelihood.

Program Objectives:
1.    Keeping individuals healthy.
A healthy society starts with a healthy individual. And this is a primary social development objective.
2.    Providing medical care and treatment to the needy.

This is to alleviate their financial burden of medical treatment and allow them to spare their inadequate savings to meet other social and educational demands.

Targeted Population:
The Program provides medical treatment to the poor people who cannot afford the expenses of the medical treatment and who are not covered by the official medical insurance, or those whose medical insurance does not cover the whole treatment requirements efficiently or in the required timeframe.
 
Shifa Program 4-Year Journey:
 

The founders of the Program started their initiative by paying periodic visits to needy families in a number of the poor areas in Jordan and distributing financial or material aids. Through these visits and with the continuous follow up on their welfare, it became evident that sickness was often the main obstacle in the way of their social development and wellbeing. Their disability to pay medical expenses often forced them to ignore medical treatment of a family member in order to meet other basic needs. Hence, the Program was founded as a response to this urgent need.

Although the Program started four years ago, it has progressed quickly through a number of stages that currently reached the stage of joining the Life Makers Charity Society. Thus it became a basic part of a host of programs and charity activities managed by this charity organization.
By joining the Life Makers, the Program founders’ aim is to enhance the level of its services and upgrade its efficiency by adopting a systemic approach to charity work. Their sole intention is to find better ways to achieve the Program objectives.

Eligibility for Program Benefits:
1.    The applicant must not be covered by the official Health Insurance Program; or
2.    In case of being covered by official health insurance but the official hospitals or medical establishments cannot provide the required medical services adequately or in a timely manner.
3.    Evidence of applicant’s disability to cover the required medical expenses
4.    Priority is given to children and to individuals supporting families.
