Mohammad Jarrar

mohammad jarrar
The Association president Mohammed Jarar
between the tender heart and the administrative mind

His kindness appears apparent to everyone who deals with him, starting from his daughter Mira and ending up with the orphans; the category which he loves and has been loved by in return. He is firmly connected to his family and believes that family is the core of society. He is a first rate athlete, an excellent manager on both levels of private business and charity work. He believes in the development and renaissance of his country and nation.
He handles many responsibilities and masters shifting between them. His smile captures whoever he meets because it is a smile which comes out from a sincere heart.

He completed his scientific studies and got the Bachelor degree with a Major Accounting from Al Ahleyya Amman University, then he got his masters degree from the Arab Academy. He got the Certified Public Accountant Certification from the United States of America (CPA), and he is a certified public accountant in Jordan (JCPA), and now works as an auditor in his private office. Mohamed started his work in charity as one of the Life Makers association founders and became its president since it has been launched.

Come with us to have this chat and get to know him closer.
1- You have completed your scientific studies and got high academic certifications, do you think that the scientific study is important for individuals and the society?
In my opinion it represents an elevation to individuals and society because it has a positive effect from the professional and personal perspective, but not acquiring it doesn't detract from the person.

2-In your opinion what is the effect of family stability on both individuals and society?
The family is the nucleus from which individuals come out, so if the family is stable its members will be generous in different ways and thought, besides if the person is raised up as a part of the society and he has to deal with it correctly we will have definitely a different life, and I wish that all of us become so.

3- We heard about your strong passion towards sports, tell us your story with it and are you still practicing sport?
Sport is a daily routine in my life and it has a major effect on it. I consider sport a part of how I keep my body which is a grace that Allah blessed me with. I had studied sports for two years and I used to play various sports like soccer ,rugby and athletics but sport injuries prevented me from going on in this specialization in a professional way, yet sport for me is like eating & drinking, a part of the daily habits which every one should practice.

4- Tell us your feeling when Allah blessed you with Mira, your daughter, and what is the word you would like to address those who get angry if Allah blessed him with a daughter not a son?
I used to often hear that parenting is a strange and unspeakable feeling and I was wondering all the time: is it so indeed?!  Actually when I became a father I felt it, it's a unique feeling you can't realize unless you experience it. It was an outstanding feeling and I can't describe it in words .I get surprised from whoever gets angry when Allah blesses him with a girl! First of all it's a gift from Allah, second I think that girls’ effect on the future of our nation will be great as women are less intensive and more sympathetic and they have more tendency to get involved in the public and charity work in all its forms. What I hear worldwide is that the bigger percentage of charity and voluntary work goes for women.

5- How did marriage affect your voluntary work? Is it true that the married person doesn't have sufficient time to participate in the voluntary work?
Marriage generally is either a push forwards or a stumble or it gets you backwards, but thanks to Allah it has a positive effect on my personal life, my voluntary work and on every level. If marriage is stable and full of repose, love and mercy, it will be a push forwards in all life fields, and the obvious example is the prophet Mohamed ( Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with El Sayyeda Khadija who was the first human supporter to him when she existed in his life.
As for married people, I tell them that you can come over the obstacle of confined time if the husband and the wife both have the desire to volunteer and give. My wife and I work together in the association and sometimes when she neglects her work in the association I blame her; being the president of the association, but at home if she showed non-performance I support and stand by her, for that marriage is originally supportive not preventive. So I tell them you can volunteer by different methods, and I think that if everyone could spare one hour in which he enthuses himself to work he would find his position in the voluntary work if Allah wills.

6- How did the idea of founding Life Makers Association in Jordan spring out?
The idea sprang out during a clothes campaign which was the outcome of following-up the Life Makers Program. The voluntary work's enthusiasts from all categories gathered and it's notable that most of the persons who founded the association were random volunteers and this program came to gather them. Well, that was the beginning of founding the association.

7- When did you begin the voluntary work, and what is the difference between voluntary work before and after the association was founded?
I've started the voluntary work since school days, and it was in a random and irregular way, after the association was founded -thanks to Allah -the voluntary work was steered and its basis was figured out.

8- What were the difficulties that you faced at the beginning of founding the association? And what were the challenges you overcame when you became the president of the association?
Difficulties were so many: at the beginning we found a difficulty in registering the volunteers in the association due to their young ages, besides their lack of experience and the vagueness of our vision generally concerning the voluntary work as a collective, institutionalized and systematic work.
Also there have always been the problem of over-enthusiasm, and unrealistic dreams; some people want to reach the moon with nominal effort.
Others volunteer with what remains of their time not considering the voluntary work as an equivalent to the private business, because the private business has a fee in return, so we were in need of reminding people of the great value of voluntary work and it's reward from Allah.

9- What was the purpose of the association at its beginnings and what has it become now?
It is one purpose and hasn’t changed, but sometimes the components and means within it change. The purpose is to serve the society or to contribute positively in it. At first we considered it as a mere charitable work and with time we felt that we can contribute more effectively by making some projects which focus on individuals and develop their capabilities, increase their involvement, edify them and at some times educate them. It's still a mere voluntary work but it shifted from partial work into the raise of the individuals at various aspects. One of the most significant participations we attempt to contribute in, is the Renaissance Project. It's a theoretical project at the phase of converting into a practical one. It aims to find the disadvantages of the Arabic and Islamic societies and replace them with advantages. The contribution of the association is so far is trying to raise the awareness. We try to spread the idea of the Renaissance and support the projects which carry this thought.

10- The Jordanian society includes many charitable associations. What makes Life Makers Association distinguishable from the rest of them?
Some of the factors are the huge number of volunteers, the variety of qualifications and our determined attempts to develop the association through concepts and modern management sciences and sciences of social and collective work. Also we rely significantly on youth, the association holds specialized courses and give guidelines and special advice on how to serve the collective work and what it requires from presidents and team members. Moreover we make sure that the experiences of old volunteers pass to the new ones so they can have a great deal of responsibility and productivity.

11- Did your private business affect your voluntary work?
I moved to the private business to maintain my voluntary work which has become a responsibility I must make commitment to and maintain. I love voluntary work and I want to complete my journey positively, for it is one of the reasons that encourage me to head for my own business and to organize my time between them and thanks to Allah things are going well.

12- Who is the person you would like to meet?
I would like to meet Ardoghan because I admire his thought.

13- What do you do when you feel sad or exhausted?
I travel, I like traveling a lot.

14- How do you deal with people who don't correspond with your thought?
I originally respect any one's thought or belief but I wish for him/her to adhere with the concept of our tolerant religion. When you give a person something you believe in, you give him a precious thing. For that, I love goodness to others just as I do to myself and wish for them all the supreme manners.

15-If you were hasty with somebody what do you do?
I apologize if I have wronged him, and in our voluntary work I present the matter to the members of the administrative board to reach a collective solution if it was necessary.

16- A word you would like to address to your daughter Mira, your wife, your family and the members of Life Makers Association?
I say to everyone around me that I learn from each in a different way, I learn from my daughter, wife, family and the volunteers who are much younger than me, just by contacting with them I learn new things, thus I thank them all for the things they added to me and I especially thank my wife because she has a great effect on my whole life. As for my daughter I pray Allah to bless her and all children.
I say to the volunteers may Allah reward you for your time and efforts, and the results are evident thanks to Allah, the reputation of the association is very high because of them, and if Allah wills, the mettle and spirit will always be strong, and I ask them all to communicate with the administration in order to deliver any creative ideas in order to develop work and contribute more effectively in the society.
