Khalid Almughrabi
Actions speak louder than words
A former writer and an ongoing life maker & want-to-be a man of Renaissance . This is in short the biography of Khalid Al Moghrabi. Life for him is an arena of difference, variety, and competition. He likes reading and considers it as seeing through the minds of others, whereas being a broad represents to him a great challenge and a tough shaping for personality where there is no choice but moving forward.
Khalid Al Moghrabi travelled to the United States Of America to pursue his Master's degree, and he joined Life Makers association since it has been launched in 2004. Khalid was from the few Arabs who participated in Google's project 10^100(10 to the 100), a call for ideas to help as many people as possible and changes the world. He also founded a charity organization w hen he was 21 years old, then a translation team and a children magazine. And now, after his return to Life Makers he was chosen as the best volunteer in the Technology Team.
Yet his greatest ambition remained the Renaissance of Ummah and he hopes to work in a global company, particullarly Google.
People's love makes him feel proud nevertheless he states that his happiness is not confined to person. He dislikes the selfish character, and his fears are to lose one of his limbs, God forbid.
In our interview with Khalid, he declares that he faced death two years ago, yet he does not consider it the most significant event in his life, rather it's his meeting with Amr Khalid the Islamic caller who is concerned with youth issues.
Here it is, Kahlid Al Moghrabi in the interview of memories and dreams, and in the face of our questions stream ;)

1- Your relation with the idea of life makers started in 2004. Can you tell us about the secret of this relation which is still ongoing to this day ?
The birth of the dream goes back to its prelude in 2004, when I heard the idea of Life Makers from Mr. Amr Khalid - I remember that Mr. Khalid had held 7 lectures at that time and I attended all of them -. The idea was settled in my mind ever after and I traveled to complete my master's and worked in the United States for years and till now I am completely obsessed with the idea.
2- What does the voluntary work mean to you? And as a man what is your opinion about women participation in the voluntary field?
Voluntary work is the personal space for each one to add and give. I think it releases you from routine and bureaucracy of work; it's like a vent. As to women work, I can't prevent myself from doing good deeds so how can I prevent others! Allah and I love the productive slave.
3- what did Life Makers experience add to you and in return what did you add to it?
The experience of Life Makers enabled me to utilize life and released my abilities, thus since I had met this idea I focused on two sides which then stacked up with a third [one], they are: mind and nourishing it by knowledge, and work and how to nourish it by realistic view and administrative skills, whereas what combine them together are good manners and people's love. As a member in the association I try to put most of my knowledge and experiences that I have acquired throughout the years into reality that can be seen &felt. That's how in less than a year - thanks to Allah - we have moved from " No team " stage to a team consisted of 15 members centered in three main locales: media, website, and marketing, and, if God wills, more is coming in the future.
4- What does the Technology Team represent to you? and what are its most significant points of strength and weakness in your opinion?
In fact, I feel overwhelming happiness in my work with the team. It's a start-up team as I said and its vitality and strength lie mainly in its spirit of giving. Maybe the will to work is the most prominent feature that marks our team. As to the weakness points - and they are improvement fields as well - we have taken them into account within the team's plan for the next year, and I think they are concentrated in two directions: increasing the knowledge of the individuals by holding courses and enhancing the efficiency and administrative side through innovative and unsystematic activities.
5- Being one of the organizers in Renissance Team, when we will reap the fruits of Renaissance project?
Perhaps I should talk about the project for those who are unacquainted with it; Renaissance project is a scientific thesis introduced by professor Jasem Sultan to the people who want to contribute in making Renaissance in the Arab and Islamic countries. Professor Jasem tried to give a brief prescription of the most important information and skills that Renaissance leader or whoever dreams to be so would need. That's why the project crossed widely with Life Makers project which is an implementation to such thesis. So we answered the call and the personal development team in the association invited professor Jasem to give the first lectures in the first series. At that time, the team's members were working in an unsystematic activity and they liked so much the idea of discussing “Leader’s seven tools" book series, and for the dissemination of benefit we expanded the circle to include all the members of the association. Currently we are working on arranging the hosting of professor Jasem to give us the second course, if God wills.
Regarding the outcome of the Renaissance, It will be achieved when everyone realizes that the secret of human being in this universe is the free will which enables him to change in general, followed by serious attempts to bring this change stumbling once and succeeds the other in knowing the possible and the impossible, thus gradually the old generation will hand over the new one more fertile soil to seed in. And truth is to be said I have noticed a difference between youth five years ago and now. Thanks to the focus of Jordan on the enhancement of human development and youth initiatives.
6- Some books leave a lasting impact on the reader's mind? What were the most important books which had that impact on you ?
Whoever sits with me for hours realizes how much I like " The story of civilization " book and its author Will Durant, but due to the variety of books topics I read I find in each field uniqueness for an author or more, and actually who led me to this way was professor Khales Galaby because of the variety of his writings. Regarding the most important books or theories, in my opinion they are five that were the base from which other schools started to explore and discover astonishing things about universe and human being : Relativity theory, Quantum theory, Freud researches, Biological Evolution Theory, and finally Chaos theory.
7- What does philosophy mean to Khalid? and why you are interested in it?
Unlike the common phrase, philosophy does not mean the words to be vague and obscure that people become unable to understand. as philosophy is the spirit of day which enlightens the world for us, so we can see it better and comprehensively. Arabs need dozes of philosophy for the founder of Scientific European Renaissance is the great philosopher Socrates, but unfortunately when philosophy had ascended to the Islamic world at past it got notorious because it interfered in fields which do not belong to its sphere like metaphysics for instance, and perhaps the thesis of professor Jasem Sultan did not ignore the role of philosophy in awakening the Arabian mind.
8- Being in Jordan now what's the thing you miss? i.e. the thing that exists in America and not here and you feel that you need it.
The easiness of reaching knowledge, and something little from the luxury and comfort of life.
9- How do you make a balance between reading, your job, voluntary work, and your personal life?
Actually I always put the factor of getting the most out any point of time as a rule in my life. I arrange things according to their priorities. I like productivity and utilizing every minute in my life. As a matter of seeing my day divided into several sides like my job, my work in the association, my social life, my readings and enjoying life etc, is a division which I do not plan for, as everything takes its priority and special arrangement in my day and my life. above all, I do not neglect reading even for minutes before I sleep.
10- You write the news in the Technology team, so it seems that you like writing, but according to our information you have given up writing! Can you tell us the reason behind it and what were the kinds of writings you were used to write?
I practiced several arts of writing, as I have children stories on the internet, sarcastic writings, and intellectual articles. I have stopped writing since more than a year, when I came to compare what I used to write to what I read and found out it was trivial. it’s not a matter of hate or love, rather a deliberation in order to write something fine and worth reading.
11- What are your wishes in the new year for the association and the Technology Team?
My wishes for the team are now the core of the team's annual plan and, if God wills, we have a complete year to achieve it. Moreover, we dream of what is greater; to take a bigger role and more responsibilities. Regarding the association I have two wishes: first to focus on attracting new members and providing them with a suitable environment to stay, second going higher by expanding the work of association through partnerships with other organizations.
